How to make your small kitchen look bigger

I have a really small kitchen and I do the following to make it look bigger

My cupboards and walls are all light coloured.
I have a mirror on the backsplash.Mirrors always make a room look bigger.Try and get a food oriented frame so that it fits in the kitchen.I got a metal frame and then I put food magnets on it so very kitchen-like.
I use a combination of general lighting and task lighting (lighting that aims directly where you'll be working). Under cabinet lighting will give you the task lighting you need without taking up space. Don't overdo it (too much glare), but don't under light either. The idea is to make the space comfortable for you.
I have attached a rack to the inside of the door where I hand pots, pans and other small utensils. This really helps to give me more kitchen space
If you're putting a new floor down lay the tiles in a diagonal pattern,This makes the room look bigger and itlooks good as well.
And finally(and you will get a lot of hassle from your contractor when you suggest this)make sure that the grain of the wood of your cabinets is running horizontally instead of vertically.I am assuming that you will use a wood grain but if not, just make sure the cabinets are light coloured.
If you have any other good ideas please post a comment below
Happy New Year!!!!
